Understanding H2H Scanner filters and analysis

What is H2H Scanner?

H2H Scanner is a football match analysis tool that scans upcoming fixtures and identifies patterns in head-to-head (H2H) history between teams. Instead of manually researching each matchup, our system automatically analyzes historical data and highlights matches that meet specific criteria.

We fetch upcoming matches for the next 7 days and cross-reference them with historical H2H data, team form, league standings, and betting odds to give you a comprehensive view of each fixture.

Filter 1: H2H Streak

This filter finds matches where one team has won multiple consecutive games against their opponent in head-to-head meetings.

How it works:

  • •We look at all historical H2H matches between the two teams
  • •Starting from the most recent match, we count how many consecutive wins one team has
  • •If Team A won the last 3 H2H matches in a row, they have a "3-game winning streak"
  • •The streak breaks when the other team wins or there's a draw

Threshold options (2+, 3+, 4+, 5+):

  • 2+Shows matches where one team has won at least 2 consecutive H2H games
  • 3+Shows matches where one team has won at least 3 consecutive H2H games
  • 4+Shows matches where one team has won at least 4 consecutive H2H games
  • 5+Shows matches where one team has won at least 5 consecutive H2H games (rare)

Form column:

When this filter is active, you'll see a "Form" column showing points earned by each team in their last 5 games (any competition). A win = 3 points, draw = 1 point, loss = 0 points. Maximum possible is 15 points.

Filter 2: H2H Total Goals

This filter finds matches where the H2H history shows a pattern of high-scoring games. It looks for consecutive matches that went over a certain goal threshold.

Goal threshold options (2.5+, 3.5+, 4.5+, 5.5+):

  • Over 2.5Match had 3 or more total goals (e.g., 2-1, 3-0, 2-2)
  • Over 3.5Match had 4 or more total goals (e.g., 3-1, 2-2, 4-0)
  • Over 4.5Match had 5 or more total goals (e.g., 3-2, 4-1, 5-0)
  • Over 5.5Match had 6 or more total goals (e.g., 4-2, 3-3, 5-1)

Consecutive games filter (2+, 3+, 4+, 5+):

This sub-filter lets you specify how many consecutive H2H games must have exceeded the goal threshold.

  • 2+ gamesLast 2 H2H matches both went over the selected goal threshold
  • 3+ gamesLast 3 H2H matches all went over the selected goal threshold
  • 4+ gamesLast 4 H2H matches all went over the selected goal threshold
  • 5+ gamesLast 5 H2H matches all went over the selected goal threshold

GPG column (Goals Per Game):

When this filter is active, you'll see a "GPG" column showing the average total goals per game for each team in their recent matches in the same competition. Hover over the value to see how many games were used in the calculation.

Lookback Period

The lookback period controls how far back we analyze H2H history. This affects both filters.

  • AllConsider all historical H2H matches between the teams (recommended for most cases)
  • 1YOnly consider H2H matches from the last 1 year
  • 2YOnly consider H2H matches from the last 2 years
  • 3YOnly consider H2H matches from the last 3 years
  • 4YOnly consider H2H matches from the last 4 years

Understanding Match Cards

Each match card displays key information at a glance:

Time/DateWhen the match kicks off (in your timezone)
TeamsHome and away team names with logos. Superscript number shows league position.
LeagueCountry and competition name shown above the teams
Form/GPGForm points (H2H Streak filter) or Goals Per Game (High Goals filter)
OddsRelevant betting odds from bookmakers (match winner or over/under goals)

H2H Detail Pages

Click any match card to open the detailed H2H analysis page, which includes:

Recent MatchesList of previous H2H encounters with scores and competition type
H2H StatisticsWin distribution, total games played, average goals per game
Current StreaksConsecutive wins and consecutive high-scoring games from latest match
League StandingsFull league table with both teams highlighted for context

Tips for Best Results

  • ✓Start with lower thresholds (2+) to see more matches, then increase to find stronger patterns
  • ✓Use "All" lookback period for teams that play each other frequently (same league)
  • ✓For cup matches between teams from different leagues, recent form may matter more than old H2H
  • ✓Always check the H2H detail page to see the actual match results behind the statistics
  • ✓Remember: past performance doesn't guarantee future results - use this as one factor in your analysis
